Florida State University’s Department of Interior Architecture and Design has climbed the national rankings published by Design Intelligence, which ranks programs based on the opinions of professionals in the field, deans of architecture and design, program directors, department heads, students and graduates.
This year, FSU’s program ranked # 5 nationally and # 2 among public universities, on a list of interior design schools that design companies have hired the most from.
FSU’s highly respected graduate interior design program ranked # 8 on the list of ‘Most Admired’ Schools. In addition, FSU graduate students ranked in the top 10 of the publication in the areas of focus of communication and presentation skills and building materials and methods.
Florida State also moved up seven spots to No. 12 on the list of “Most Admired” Undergraduate Schools in Interior Design.
These rankings took into account 188 interior architecture and design programs accredited in the United States and Canada.
“The Interior Architecture and Design Department is grateful for the continued support of the FSU administration, dedicated alumni, committed faculty and hard-working students,” said Lisa Waxman, Department Chair. . “The faculty strives to engage students who understand the power of good design and the positive impact it can have on life.”
The Interior Architecture and Design program exposes students to design theory, history, technical skills and more for working in residential, office, hospitality, retail, learning and business. FSU has over 200 interior design majors currently preparing to work in design firms, as interior designers, architectural firms and more.
The ministry’s goal is to use well-designed spaces to have a positive impact on human health, safety and well-being. Faculty and students strive to carry on the tradition of excellence established in the School of Interior Architecture and Design.
