Resource furniture is versatile, often serving multiple purposes, which inherently means less furniture is needed in the home. This reduces the consumption of products and the materials needed to manufacture them. For example, Swing, one of the company’s cornerstone wall beds, works in conjunction with the sofa for easy installation and retraction without moving any furniture around to make space. Other Murphy beds work in conjunction with desks.

“Unlike a sofa bed, our Murphy beds are designed to be comfortable and fairly easy to use on a daily basis,” said Challie Stillman, vice president of sales and design at Resource Furniture. “In a studio, for example, a Murphy bed transforms the way an occupant lives with and in space. The apartment can function as a one bedroom, and converting the sofa into a bed also allows a mental conversion to take place – out of sight, out of mind! “
The company also offers a seemingly small table that converts into a dining table that seats eight. This is the recipe for a successful dinner, even in a small space.
It also has a desk that looks like part of the wall until it’s unfolded to create a workspace. Anyone who lives, works, or studies in a small space may appreciate the ability to hide a desk when not in use. Likewise, the company manufactures hidden closets, sets of nesting tables and modular storage solutions.
The modular look of most parts allows the user to replace parts without the waste that results from scrapping the entire cabinet. However, the company is dedicated to making durable furniture and offers a lifetime warranty with that in mind.
To this end, Resource Furniture is committed to selecting and producing materials that guarantee a long lifespan to each product. According to a press release, “Resource Furniture’s facilities and furniture craftspeople adhere to the highest environmental, quality and ethical standards in the world.”
This is reinforced by the selection of materials from sustainable sources, FSC-CoC, TSCA Title VI certified and CARB2 compliant. Resource Furniture wall beds are constructed with composite wood panels, which contain at least 90% recycled and reforested wood products.
Even the mattresses are environmentally friendly, made from fully biodegradable and solvent-free materials. The company uses water-based lacquers, paints and glues to prevent gas emissions. During production, Italian wall bed manufacturer Clei collects sawdust and gas by-products that would otherwise be released into the atmosphere.
Until the very last moment of use, Resource Furniture has an environmental responsibility plan.
“I like to say that our product is low tech – most of the products are manually operated,” said Steve Spett, co-founder of Resource Furniture. “It serves a number of purposes. The furniture is easy to maintain and has a long warranty. As it does not use electricity, it is also a zero emission product. The products are also easy to use and do not require any special arrangement for the placement of electrical outlets.
