OBJ-01: based on the purity of raw materials

Valencian designer Manu Bañó beautifully achieves ‘OBJ-01‘ – an extraordinary metal table lamp that is part of an open collection of simple products based on the purity of raw materials, industrial processes and gestures that bring about a specific function.

Manu Bañó is co-founder of the EWE design studio and partner of the renowned furniture, interior design and architecture firm, Esrawe Studio, in Mexico City.

“OBJ-01 is a simple and understandable gesture, an object that requires no explanation. At a glance, it reveals its material, its manufacturing process, its function and its use » said Banó.

A plate of raw metal – which can be steel, stainless steel or brass – is skilfully laser cut and assembled by hand with a rubber hammer and without welding.

The size of this innovative minimalist product responds brilliantly to the modulation and format of the material in its commercial standards.

Pure geometric figures construct the luminaire; a rectangle, a circle and a cylinder on the back which transparently contains the LED light spot.

The circle, once cut, effortlessly adopts the function of a screen and can be rotated 360 degrees to direct the illuminating light at will.
